The expert platform «Migration processes: challenges of modernity» was held at the Mari Research Institute of Language, Literature and History named after V.M. Vasilyev. Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola Larisa Polushina presented a report «New international initiatives on safe, orderly and legal migration and rights of refugees: the position of the Russian Federation».

First Deputy Head of the Government of the Mari El Republic Mikhail Vasutin, head of the Department for migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Mari El Republic Alexey Dmitriyev, rector of the Mari State University Mikhail Shvetsov, scientists, representatives of public and media of the Republics of Mari El, Tatarstan and Chuvashia took part in the discussion.

Issues on the migration situation in Russia and the Mari El Republic, problems of adaptation and integration of foreign migrants were discussed during the discussion.

Recommendations will be published on the results of the expert platform.
