Dean of the Faculty of Social Technologies of the Volga State University of Technology professor V. Shalaev paid a study visit to the University Mittweida (Germany).
During the visit an official meeting of V. Shalaev with Head of the International Center of the University Mittweida S. Langhammer took place, during which issues of further cooperation of the two universities were discussed.
The Summer School of Mari Language and Culture took place in the Mari State University. Students and graduate students from Moscow, Hungary, Finland, and Japan took part in the work of the school.
School participants visited the National Museum named after T. Evseev, the Mari National Drama Theatre named after Shketan in Yoshkar-Ola, Morkinskiy district of the Mari El Republic in the framework of the excursion program.
The team from the Mari El Republic presented the Russian Federation in the XV International Rally of Young Firefighters and Rescuers in Gomel (Belarus).
Teams from 13 countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine took part in the rally.
Folklore ensemble from the Donetsk People’s Republic took part in the X Interregional folklore-ethnographic festival «Land of forefathers» in the Kilemarsky district of the Mari El Republic.
The fifth Summer School of Russian Language and Culture for students from China took place on the base of the Volga State University of Technology in Yoshkar-Ola.
8 students from the Fujian Normal University (Fuzhou) took part in the Summer School.
Folk dance group «Haanja Tantsu Laulu Mangu Selts» (Vorumaa, Estonia) was on tour in the Orshanskiy District of the Mari El Republic.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin paid a visit to the Mari El Republic. Under his chairmanship the session of the presidential Council for interethnic relations took place. The session was dedicated to the implementation at the regional and municipal levels of the Strategy of State National Policy of the Russian Federation for the period till 2025.
During the visit Vladimir Putin met with the temporarily acting Head of the Mari El Republic Aleksandr Evstifeev and visited the national Museum of the Republic Mari El named after T. Evseev.
Journalist, traveler and researcher of folk culture of Russia Genki Numata (Japan) paid a visit to Yoshkar-Ola.
Japanese journalist visited the National Art Gallery, the National Museum named after T. Evseev, the Museum of History of Yoshkar-Ola.
The delegation of 9 students from the Mari El Republic led by the employee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Mari El Republic E. Samoylova took part in the IV Russian-Chinese Youth Forum «Volga–Yangtze» in Hefei (Anhui province, China).
The forum was organized by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China.
The delegation of the Mari El Republic including First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Mari El Republic, Minister of Culture, Press and Ethnic Affairs of the Mari El Republic M. Vasyutin and Head of Department of the Ministry of Industry, Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Mari El Republic A. Vorotilov took part in the session of the Council for cooperation between the regions of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation and the Middle and Upper reaches of the Yangtze river of China in the format «Volga–Yangtze» in Hefei (Anhui province, China).
Agreements on cooperation in trade-economic and humanitarian sphere between the Government of the Mari El Republic and the People's Governments of Hubei and Chongqing of China were signed during the visit of the delegation of the Mari El Republic to China
Festive events on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga took place in Yoshkar-Ola. Events were organized by the Embassy of India in Russia, the Indian Cultural Centre named after Jawaharlal Nehru, and the Ministry of Sport of the Mari El Republic.
Courses for young Finno-Ugric writers «Create and embody» took place in the Mari National Drama Theatre named after M. Shketan in Yoshkar-Ola. Courses were organized by the grant support of the Society of M. Castrén (Finland).
Research fellow of the Centre of Excellence named after Jean Monnet of the Volga State University of Technology Y. Polevshchikova took part in the Summer school Sumforest in Minsk (Belarus) organized by the European Forest Institute for young scientists.
Lectures held by leading speakers and coordinators of international projects took place in the framework of the Summer school.
Representatives of the University of Banja Luka (Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the Belgrade University (Serbia) paid a working visit to the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT).
In the framework of the visit the cooperation agreement between VSUT and the University of Banja Luka was signed. The agreement provides the development of academic and cultural exchange, joint research, development of network of educational programs, organization of internships of students and teachers.
Foreign guests got acquainted with scientific and educational basis of VSUT, visited the laboratories of the Institute of Forest and Environmental Sciences, the Center of Engineering and Industrial Design «Bioenergy», an automated greenhouse - forest nursery complex, the Laboratory of the Center for Collective Use.
The III round of the International Internet-contest on mathematics took place in VSUT. 104 students from 54 universities and its branches of the Russian Federation and CIS took part in the III round of the Olympiad in Yoshkar-Ola.
Video bridge between VSUT and Ariel University (Ariel, Israel) – the second site of the III round of the Internet-contest – was held in the framework of the solemn opening ceremony of the III round of the contest.
The International scientific-practical conference «Forest ecosystems in the conditions of climate change: regional and international dimensions» took place at the Volga State University of Technology in Yoshkar-Ola. The conference was organized by the EU project «Public diplomacy. The EU and Russia» and the Centre of Excellence named after Jean Monnet of VSUT. Partners of the conference were the European Forest Institute (Finland), the Ministry of Forestry and Hunting of the Mari El Republic, the Center for sustainable management and remote monitoring of forests of VSUT.
Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola L.V. Polushina took part in the opening ceremony of the conference.
Head of the project «Public diplomacy. The EU and Russia» Jens Siegert presented the objectives of the project to the participants of the conference.
More than 80 researchers and practitioners of forestry, ecology and environmental protection took part in the conference.
Ioannis Gitas (Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece), Raisa Mäkipää (University of Eastern Finland), Tuomo Kauranne (Arbonaut Ltd., Finland), Elena Kulikova (European Forest Institute, Finland) took part as European experts.
The XVI All-Russian Boxing tournament on prizes of the Champion of Russia Oleg Naumov took place in Volzhsk (Mari El Republic). About 100 athletes from seven regions of Russia, and the Lugansk People’s Republic took part in the competition.
The XIII International Scientific Conference «Socio-humanitarian science and practice in the XXI century» took place at the Faculty of Social Technologies of VSUT. Participants from Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, and Tajikistan sent articles for publication in the conference materials.
Open lectures of Professor from the Concord University (USA) Roy Ramthun was held in the framework of the conference.
Annual Russian language seminar for foreign students took place in Yoshkar-Ola. It was organized by the Republican Center of Russian Culture by the support of the Ministry of Culture, Press and Interethnic Relations of the Mari El Republic in the framework of events dedicated to the Day of Russian language and culture.
Foreign students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of the Mari El Republic took part in the seminar.
The IV International Finno-Ugric Students’ Forum «Wealth of Finno-Ugric peoples», organized by the Association of Students and Postgraduates of Finno-Ugric Universities by support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Press and Interethnic Relations of the Mari El Republic took place on the basis of the Mari State University in Yoshkar-Ola.
More than 250 students and postgraduates from 10 regions of the Russian Federation (republics of Bashkortostan, Karelia, Komi, Mari El, Mordovia, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Chuvashia; the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Perm Krai) and of foreign countries (Hungary and Estonia) took part in the forum.

Folklore Ensemble «Alan» from the Mari El Republic took part in events of music and exhibition program «Finno-Ugric transit» in Budapest (Hungary). The opening of the exhibition «Four Mari Years» of photographer from the Mari El Republic D. Rechkin and screening of the film «Mari. Weekdays and holidays» created by the Finno-Ugric Cultural Center of the Russian Federation took place in the framework of the program.
Music and exhibition program was held in Hungary for the first time and supplemented the International Project «Finno-Ugric transit» of the Finno-Ugric Cultural Center of Russia.

Representatives of the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT) took part in the Annual International Scientific Conference of the British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES-2017) in Cambridge (United Kingdom).
More than 130 thematic sections in Politics, Economics, History, Sociology and Geography, Film and Media, Linguistics, Literature and Cultures took place in the framework of the forum. Two roundtables were dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the October revolution of 1917.
Open lectures of the international business coach and consultant in intercultural management Professor Natalya Fritzlar (Germany) took place in VSUT.
Teachers and students of VSUT attended in the lectures.
Representatives of the Volga State University of Technology and the Mari State University took part in the Educational Exhibition of Russian universities in Ashkhabad (Turkmenistan) organized by the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan jointly with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin took part in the opening ceremony.
The presentation of educational services of VSUT and MarSU took place within the framework of the exhibition.
The II All-Russian scientific-practical conference «International Humanitarian Cooperation: New Challenges and Opportunities» organized by the Mari State University by the assistance of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola and by the support of the Association of Russian Diplomats took place in MarSU in Yoshkar-Ola.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, member of the Association of Russian Diplomats N. Vladimir, Head of the Department of Applied Political Science of the National Research University «Higher School of Economics» (Saint-Petersburg), Vice-President of Russian Association of Political Science A. Sungurov, Associate Professor of the Ural Federal University A. Lamzin were special guests of the conference.
The troupe of the Academic Russian Drama Theatre named after G. Konstantinov took part in the Open Theatrical Festival named after Pavel Luspekaev «Lady Luck» in Lugansk.
Deputy Director of the National Museum of Fine Arts of the Mari El Republic N. Stepanova took part in the Art Plein Air and the exhibition of works of contemporary Russian artists in Kuwait.
Events were organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kuwait.

Representatives of the Regional public organization «Union of Mari women «Saskaviy» from the Mari El Republic took part in the celebration of the Day of Kalevala in Helsinki (Finland).
In the celebration the seminar dedicated to the issues of Finno-Ugric women’s organizations and cultural cooperation of Russia and Finland took place. Representatives of public organizations, institutions of culture and education, mass media of the Finno-Ugric regions of the Russian Federation (Komi, Udmurtia, Mari El, and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district – Ugra) took part in the seminar.
The event was organized by the Kalevala Women’s Association, the Museum of Fine Arts in Helsinki by the support of the Ministry of Education of Finland and dedicated to the international day of Kalevala.
The video lecture of the expert of the program «Bioeconomy» of the European Forest Institute (Finland) Elena Kulikova was held at the International Center named after Jean Monnet of the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT) for masters in areas of «Forestry business» and «Ecology and nature» within the discipline «International cooperation».
The first Republican night-fest of national cultures «Open your heart to the world!» took place on the Mari State University (MarSU). In the framework of the event the master-classes on making of souvenirs of different countries, playing national instruments, the concert «Open your heart to the world» performed by foreign students of MarSU took place.
More than 1000 foreign students from 40 countries are studying at MarSU currently.
The group of students and teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of MarSU trained at a private language school SWAN Training Institute (Dublin, Ireland).
In the same group with representatives of the Mari El Republic, representatives of ten countries – Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Spain, Italy, China, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey, Estonia – trained.
The championship of Russia and all-Russia competitions on sports tourism on ski distances took place in the Mari El Republic. Athletes from 23 regions of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan took part in the competition
Fifth interregional festival of national cultures «Friendship Bridge», organized by Club of international friendship of students «Bridge», took place at VSUT. Students of educational institutions from Mari El, Tatarstan and Chuvash Republic – representatives of 16 nations of the world – took part in the event.
More than 800 foreign students from 25 countries are studying in VSUT.
The opening of the exhibition «Crimean war: events and images», dedicated to the third anniversary of the reunification of the Crimea with Russia on rights entity of the Russian Federation, took part in the National Library named after S.G. Chavayn.
The exhibition of documents from the Archive of foreign policy of the Russian Empire «History of Crimea – history of Russia: period of Catherine the Great», organized on the initiative of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola in March 2016, was presented as part of the exhibition.
The rally-concert «And again... with Russia. Forever!», dedicated to the third anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with Russia, with the participation of the Head of the Mari El Republic L. Markelov, representatives of authorities, public, military-patriotic, voluntary organizations, youth and citizens took place in Yoshkar-Ola.
The group of students and undergraduates of the Faculty of Social Technologies of VSUT headed by the FST Dean professor V.P. Shalaev practiced at the Concord University (West Virginia, USA).
During the visit meetings with the rector and Vice-rector of the Concord University, in the Ministry of Education of the state of West Virginia (Charleston) took place. The delegation of VSUT visited the school named after George Washington, during which the issues of development of international educational relations between the school № 7 of Yoshkar-Ola and the school named after George Washington were discussed.
The preliminary Protocol on cooperation of schools with the mediation of FST was signed during the visit of the delegation of American professors in the Mari El Republic in May 2016.
Round table «State support of export in the Russian Federation» for export focused enterprises of the Mari El Republic took place in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Mari El Republic. Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, JSC «Russian Export Center», the Mari Customs Post, heads of enterprises of the republic took part in the event.
Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola L.V. Polushina made a presentation «Information support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation of participants of foreign trade activities».
The ballet troupe of the Mari State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after E. Sapaev made a concert tour in the cities of Germany.
The meeting of the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola L. Polushina with Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan A. Nuskabay took place in the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan. During the meeting the issues of cooperation between the Mari El Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the sphere of economics and humanitarian cooperation were discussed.
Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Kazan R. Vahitov took part in the meeting also.

The presentation of the book «Chetlykyse muro» («Songs behind barbed wire») (originator O.M Gerasimov) held in Yoshkar-Ola. The book includes songs recorded in concentration camps of Kiser’s Germany in 1914-1918, performed by Mari’s prisoners of war, gift CD-ROM with recordings of the voices of prisoners of war and photo album «Сamp of prisoners of war «Chemnitz» (brought one of the prisoners - the inhabitant of the Mari El Republic).
Recordings of voices were provided by the Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany).
Official registration of the public organization «Mari Union of Ukraine» took place in Zhitomir (Ukraine). It was approved charter and was elected the board of the organization.
The staff of the Center of Excellence of Jean Monnet of the Institute of Forest and Nature Management of the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT) trained at the Centre of Excellence «Forestry and remote sensing» of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).
Agreement to continue cooperation between VSUT and the Aristotle University on issues of holding joint summer schools, conferences, development of joint master’s program, and participation in project activities in the framework of the European program Erasmus+ was achieved during the meeting with representatives of the administration, leading professors and the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry of the Greek University.
The opening of the exhibition of documents from the Archive of foreign policy of the Russian Empire and the Archive of foreign policy of the Russian Federation «Symbols of Russian power» dedicated to the Diplomatic workers’ day took place in Yoshkar-Ola on the initiative of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola.
Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola L. Polushina, teachers and students of the Mari State University, employees of the National Library named after S.G. Chavain and mass media took part in the event.
The Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola summed up the annual competition of creative works among schoolchildren of the Mari El Republic on the subjects dedicated to memorable dates and anniversary events from the history of the Russian diplomacy and international relations.
The meeting with representative of the Farmers Union LOGO e.V. (Germany) Walter Florian Hollmann was held at the Agrarian Technology Institute of MarSU. V.F. Hollmann held a presentation of the program of the Union LOGO e.V. and interview with 11 students of MarSU with the purpose of selection for an apprenticeship in 2017 in ecological farms of Germany.
The II Republican festival of languages «Lingva-Territory» dedicated to the International Mother Language Day organized by the Republican Сenter of Mari Culture by the support of the Ministry of Culture, Press and Nationalities of the Mari El Republic took place in MarSU.
Students of MarSU – representatives of 14 of the world's peoples (Azerbaijan, Arab, Armenian, Hindu, Mari, Russian, Tajik, Tatar, Turkmen, Udmurt, Uzbek, Finnish, French, Estonian) presented its language and culture during the event.
Head of the International Programs and Projects Office of VSUT A. Fominykh took part in the work of the 58-th Congress of the International Studies Association (ISA-2017) in Baltimore (USA).
At the section on international education and public diplomacy A. Fominykh introduced internationalization experience of Russian universities, in particular presented the work of VSUT in the promotion of Russian higher education in the countries of Central Asia and South Caucasus.
